What is Reliance Jio?

Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance industries announced the much awaited launch of Reliance Jio, the network service which would offer data and calls services at extremely cheaper rates. Reliance Jio network would be officially available from Monday , September 5th onwards. The services would be free for use until the end of the year 2016. Post January 1, 2017 the users will only have to pay for the data they consume , voice calls would still remain free.

Lets look at some remarkable features of Reliance Jio and what takes it way ahead of its competitors.

  • Fast Speed data at cheaper rates

    Reliance Jio would only be providing 4G network which means the users can enjoy the fast speed internet services. The only requirement to avail this network service is to have 4G compatible mobile phone which should support VoLTE. The data prices are as cheap as Rs 50 per GB

  • VoLTE technology for Reliance Jio

    Reliance Jio uses VoLTE technology which stands for Voice over LTE. This enables you to make voice calls over data network. This technology makes the calls clearer and reliable. As VoLTE technology has the ability to transfer large packets of data quickly, it improves the quality of voice calls vastly. This technology was first offered by Singtel in Singapore. If Reliance Jio rolls out successfully then this would be largest VoLTE technology implementation in the world.

  • Reliance JioFi Wifi Service

    If your current mobile phone is not 4G compatible you can opt for Reliance Lyf phones which are available at starting price of Rs 2,999 and is 4G compatible. Else you also have the option for buying Reliance JioFi portable Wi-Fi hotspots at Rs 1,999. JioFi is a hotspots that creates a Wifi network and you can use the services by connecting your mobile with the wifi network.

  • Tariff rates

    The small plan starts at Rs 149 for 0.3GB data along with access to 100 SMSes. A Medium pack which comes at Rs 499 for 4GB 4G data and access to unlimited 4G at night. The Large, XL, XXL and XXXL 4G packs are priced at Rs 999, Rs 1,499, Rs 2,499, Rs 3,999 and Rs 4,999, respectively.

  • No Roaming

    The voice calls for Jio customers would be absolutely free all over the India. This means that there would not be any roaming charges. Calling someone on another network would be free of cost.

  • eKYC for SIM card registration

    Users would not have to wait in long queues outside the retail stores to get their connection activated. Just carry your Aadhar cards to the retail stores and you can get your SIM activated in mere 15 minutes.
